Bio

Nasser Hussain is a former England Men’s International cricketer and captain and current broadcaster. He made his debut for England in 1989 and retired in 2004, featuring in 184 matches across the two formats of the game.

Hussain captained The England Men’s Cricket Team from 1999 to 2003 and his captaincy skills helped them win Four Test series in a row – a feat only matched by WG Grace and Mike Brearley.

Hussain’s autobiography “Playing with Fire: was published on May 31, 2005 and won the Best Autobiography category of the 2005 British Sports Book Awards.

Hussain was awarded an OBE in the Civil Division for services to cricket in the 2002 Queen’s New Years Honors List, and was also awarded honorary Life Membership of the Marylebone Cricket Club in 2005.

Hussain is currently a cricket commentator at Sky Sports, covering England’s home and away matches along with domestic cricket on Sky Cricket Channel. He joined the commentary team, alongside Michael Atherton and David Lloyd soon after his retirement.

Hussain played a role of a selector in the Bollywood movie Patiala House, a sports-drama film released in 2011.

Hussain also delivers motivational speeches, represented by the Gordon Poole Agency.

Hussain studied Natural Sciences at the University of Durham, while he graduated in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science (BSC) degree.
