Bio
Sourav Ganguly is a Cricket Administrator and former Captain of the Indian national cricket team. He is popularly known as “Dada” due to his connection with West Bengal, where older males are called by that name.
He played football as a youth before starting cricket. His love for football has continued, as he is the co-owner of Atlético de Kolkata, a franchise of the Indian Super League, which won the inaugural season in 2014.
Ganguly captained the Indian Cricket Team to success including the 20013 World Cup Final. In 2002, the Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack ranked him the sixth greatest ODI batsman of all time.
Ganguly was awarded the Padma Shri in 2004, one of India’s highest civilian awards.
