Western Province Cricket Association today confirmed the Western Province Women’s Squad for the 2020 / 2021 season.

With the fixtures now confirmed for the season, Coach Claire Terblanche will lead her side in the CSA Women’s Provincial 50 over competition as well as the Provincial T20 competition which is set to get underway in January.

Terblanche is looking forward to getting back on the park again with renewed vigour for the coming season, already boosted by the fact that they have secured their first team sponsor in Mitchum.

“I think we have a well-rounded squad for this season and I’m expecting good things from our players. With a number of high performance players in our squad, they can help get the entire team to level-up as a group.”

WPCA Cricket Services Manager Clinton du Preez wished the team well for this coming season: “I would like to congratulate all the players retained within the squad on the back of successful performances in the past few seasons, the Women’s provincial team has been the most successful team within the Province and would like to thank the players and team management for their continued commitment and passion towards the game, it is held in high regard and looking forward to ways to reward the players going forward.”

“A strong group of players have been retained and coupled with a combination of young players showing much potential towards the sustainability of the team, it is very exciting to boast about the blend of experience and youth produced from our Club, School and Hub structures.”

Interim WPCA CEO Tennyson Botes has called on the WP Women’s team to continue their upward curve under the tutelage of Terblanche. “Coach Claire has built up a strong work ethic in her team that has a good mix of youth and experience. Our WP Women’s team represent this affiliate with pride and we wish them well for the coming season and hopefully there’ll be two more trophies in the cabinet come the end of the season.”
