CSA is set to host the annual awards next month in recognition of the ‘Summer to Celebrate’ for the top performers of the 2022/23 season.
Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA) will be well represented at the upcoming CSA annual awards with members from both men’s and women’s teams, are among those who are nominated.
The awards will be held on 7 July 2023 at Vodaworld, Midrand. The ceremony will be the first in-person event post COVID-19 lockdowns as last season’s top performers are set to be recognised.
Six Gun Grill Western Province Women’s coach Claire Terblache who guided her side to a successful campaign following a superb run that saw them lift the CSA Women’s One Day Cup trophy back in April receives a well-deserved nomination for the Women’s Provincial Coach of the Year.
Tony de Zorzi and Laura Wolvaardt lead the list of WP nominees, with both players having been nominated in multiple categories. De Zorzi had a stellar season that saw him make his full international debut, and is a nominee for the CSA 4-Day Series Player of the Season, CSA One Day Cup Player of the Season and International Men’s Newcomer of the Year. On the back of another successful season which culminated in strong performances at the ICC Women’s World Cup in February, Laura Wolvaardt has been nominated for SA Women’s Player of Year, Women’s T20 International Player of Year, Women’s One Day International Player of Year.
Tony de Zorzi’s teammate, George Linde had a marvellous season and has caught the eye of the nomination panel as he is also included in CSA One Day Cup Player of the Season list.
Stalwart, Lara Goodall is nominated alongside Laura Wolvaardt for Women’s One Day International Player of Year and Sinalo Jafta is a nominee for the Fans’ Player of the Year award.
