World Sports Betting Western Province Women head coach Claire Terblanche is confident her team will finish the season on a high when the side meets the Fidelity Titans Ladies in both the 50-over fixture and the CSA T20 Challenge this weekend.

Province has already clinched the T20 trophy after playing nine matches with 32 points at the summit while sitting in third position in the 50-over format.

The World Sports Betting Newlands based side will see their T20 match on Sunday being televised for the first time in women’s domestic cricket which is a monumental for the women’s game.

The T20 match will be followed by the World Sports Betting Western Province men playing against their rivals and neighbours, Gbets Rocks starting at 14:00.

Terblanche believes the Titans will bring a good match this weekend.

“I think we can expect some good cricket, challenging, energetic,

something I think we can all look forward to because this is our last weekend of matches. It’s always a good matchup when Western Province and Titans play against each other,” said Terblanche.

“So, we won the 50 over last year and the T20 this year. The previous season, before last year’s one, we had won the T20 then.

“So, it’s nice to have a trophy or win a format in every season so far.

So, to be the T20 champions again is something that I think we figured out in our T20 game and it’s great that everything has come together, and we can lift the trophy this time around.”

Terblanche has spoken about the learning the team has taken this season and where it can improve on.

“We wanted to be on top of the 50 overs, but that obviously didn’t happen, and I think it does also boil down to just not bringing enough partnerships together. There are not enough runs on the board,” she said.

“So, I think just going back to the drawing board in our 50 over space. And to be as prepared or as confident in our 50-over game as we are in T20’s.

“Now the team has been training quite well, it is our last one. So, at the end of the season, we are sitting with a few niggles, but nothing too hectic.”

Both matches will start at 10:00 on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
